Pedestrian behaviour study at Urban AI for adaptive traffic signal

Generally, adaptive traffic signals do not consider pedestrians.

Drivers wait for the pedestrian phase even if there are no pedestrians. And pedestrians risk crossing the road when there are no vehicles.

Pedestrian crossing speed and waiting time are critical parameters for designing traffic signals and ensuring their safety.

Also intersections are one of the dangerous places for the pedestrians and one of causes of fatality is pedestrians' violations of traffic signals and dangerous crossings at intersections.

We measure these parameters on Urban AI which assist in implementation of pedestrian adaptive signal.
